Welcome

Welcome to the website for the Faculty Administrative Officer's (FAO) group at the University of Western Australia.

Be sure to bookmark this page as it contains valuable information and relevant links.

The group is made up of Faculty Administrative Officers across the 9 faculties at UWA.

The role of the FAO is essential to the smooth running of student and faculty administration and includes responsibilities in:

  • Writing and revision of Faculty rules for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including the development of new and combined degrees both onshore and offshore
  • Policy and planning including strategic and operational initiatives at the Faculty and University level

  • Committee related duties

  • All aspects of student administration including the provision of specialist advice to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students on courses appropriate to their qualifications and to enrolled students on course planning/enrolment queries and problems

  • Marketing and supervision.

The complexity of the FAO role has been acknowledged by the University Secretariat who commissioned the development of an FAO Survival Kit which assists new staff to establish work practices and networks appropriate to the level of responsibility.

The group aims to:

  • promote itself as an essential working component of the University
  • promote professionalism and awareness of the group throughout the University

  • provide a support base for members of the group

  • actively participate in the decision-making process of the University

  • develop networks and social interaction with other faculty administrators within the University and at other Australian and international universities

  • exchange views, ideas and information on a regular basis with a view to maximising the contribution of the group to the University and its administrative processes

  • promote opportunities for advancement of the group and the individuals within it.
